Barca coach urges improvement after PSG loss

Desk Report:

Barcelona suffered a setback in their second UEFA Champions League match. The Catalans lost 2-1 to PSG. After this defeat, the Spanish club’s head coach Hansi Flick urged them to improve.

Barca had a great start at the Olympic Luis Compañía. The hosts dominated PSG for most of the first half. They even took the lead with a goal from Ferran Torres in the 19th minute. In the 38th minute, Seni Mayulu brought the visitors back into the match. The rest of the match was controlled by Luis Enrique’s disciples. Even then, the match was on the verge of a draw. But in the last minute of the regular time, Gonzalo Ramos struck the Barca net. The defending champions returned with a full 3 points.

Although the gap in the various match statistics was not very large, Barca was far behind PSG in terms of performance. Flick knows very well that it is not possible to go far with such a performance on a stage like the Champions League. So the German coach called on his students to correct their mistakes and give their best.

He said, “We had a very good start. After half an hour, the opposing team took control of the match. So we had to suffer a bit in the first half. After the break, we had no control at all. We tried to take control for a while. But we couldn’t play organized football.”

Regarding PSG’s dominant performance, Flick said, “Such a performance in a Champions League match is not good for your team. Not against a champion team like PSG. We have to play more organized football. We have to learn. The whole team has to work on managing the defense. We have to go on the attack again, create space and use it, be involved in keeping the ball. PSG’s players are very good at these things. We have to work on these things, improve.”
